Elvex Impulse ear muff with noise suppression and communications circuitry offers the following features:

  • Hearing protection is the primary objective of Elvex Impulse, Com-55 and Com-65, the cap mount version. Com-55 provides 25 dB NRR (Noise Reduction Rating) and Com-65 provides 23 dB NRR.
  • An electronic gain limiter limits the sound produced inside the headset to 82 dB, in order to maintain hearing protector integrity.
  • An impulse (or impact) filter electronically eliminates impulse sounds by closing down the circuitry in micro seconds, and opening the circuitry again in about two milliseconds (when the impulse is over). This feature makes Elvex Impulse very effective on the shooting range. The gun shots are eliminated, but the shooting instructor can still be heard.
  • The Communications features of Elvex Impulse allows you to have a close range communications in select noisy environments. Two microphones on the outside of the earmuffs listen to the environment and sends the signal to the electronic processor. Frequencies below 400 Hz and above 4,000 Hz are not processed and therefore the speech to noise ratio can be improved in many environments. Although this type of device is often referred to as an active headset, Elvex Impulse does not use true noise cancellation technology.
  • An auto off switch will turn off the headset after four hours of continuous use, to conserve battery use
  • Elvex Com-55 uses one 9 Volt battery, and will operate for 200 hours on one battery under normal circumstances
